Proactive Public and Stakeholder Education

CHA's Public Advocacy Program is designed to improve the standing of California's community hospitals among the state's opinion leaders, elected officials, and the public at large. Guided by the Public Advocacy Task Force, the Public Advocacy Program raises awareness of the priority issues on behalf of its members and promotes changes to policies and regulations that will help protect hospitals and patients' access to safe, affordable and high-quality hospital services.

CHA Launches H1N1 PSAs

Community education campaign includes 60-second TV spots

CHA has produced a series of public service announcements (PSAs) to educate Californians about the signs and symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus.

Four 60-second television spots — which can be viewed below — have been produced. One PSA is intended for parents of school-age children and another for adults. Spanish language versions of the spots also have been developed.

Hospitals operate 24/7 and are there when communities and patients need them most.  However, hospitals and emergency rooms are under economic and other pressures that put them at risk. Many of the issues facing hospitals may result in more ER overcrowding and service closures.  Protect MyER.com is an ongoing public education and advocacy program designed to build understanding and support for hospital issues like ER overcrowding.  To learn more, click the link below...

Code Blue

Grassroots Community Outreach

CHA's Code Blue program is designed to build awareness and support for California's community hospitals among those who have a vested interest in the health and well-being in their communities. Code Blue works to inform key stakeholders of the critical issues facing hospitals and health systems.

As part of this grassroots advocacy effort, CHA and its three Regional Associations make regular visits around the state, meeting with local business and civic leaders to build partnerships within communities.
